The advanced search techniques let you search and sort your subscribers by any number of parameters. You can search for anything in the subscriber detail fields, or by list membership.<\/p><h2>To search fields<\/h2><p>Type the full name of the field, followed by a colon, followed by the text you want to search for.<\/p><p><strong>[field name]:[search term]<\/strong><\/p><p class=\"note\">\u00a0<strong>Note:<\/strong>\u00a0Keep in mind that there are\u00a0<strong>no spaces<\/strong>\u00a0in between any of these terms.<\/p><table><tbody><tr><th>Example<\/th><th>Result<\/th><\/tr><tr><td>firstname:Dean<\/td><td>All subscribers who have \u201cDean\u201d in their firstname field.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>city:New York<\/td><td>All the subscribers who have \u201cNew York\u201d in their city field.<p>\u00a0<\/p><p class=\"note\">\u00a0<strong>Note:<\/strong>\u00a0Because this is a text string search, folks who have \u201cNY\u201d in their city field would\u00a0<strong>not<\/strong>\u00a0show as a search result.<\/p><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>zip:111<\/td><td>All subscribers who have 3 ones in a row anywhere in their zip field.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><h2>To search lists<\/h2><p>You can search for subscriber memberships with a few different commands. Keep in mind that you\u00a0<strong>must put quotes around the list name<\/strong>.<\/p><ul><li><strong>member_of:\u201d<\/strong><em>List Name<\/em><strong>\u201c<\/strong>\u00a0will return all folks who are a member of the list you\u2019ve mentioned.<\/li><li><strong>only_in_all_list<\/strong>\u00a0will return all folks who are not a member of any list, and are active subscribers. This is useful in the case where you haven\u2019t specified a list for your signup form, or if you\u2019ve accidentally deleted a list.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.secureserver.net\/help\/article\/15933?prog_id=501414\">Find out more about folks only in the All list<\/a>.<\/li><li><strong>member_of:\u201d*\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0will return all folks who are not a member of any list, including your Suppression list.<\/li><\/ul><h2>To combine search terms<\/h2><p>You can use\u00a0<strong>AND<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>OR<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>NOT<\/strong>\u00a0to combine any of these search terms. Type in your first search item, a space, your connector (AND, OR, NOT), another space, and your next search term.<\/p><h2><strong>Examples<\/strong><\/h2><ul><li><strong>not member_of:\u201dAll Stars\u201d<\/strong><br \/>All subscribers who are not a member of the list All Stars.<p>\u00a0<\/p><p class=\"note\">\u00a0<strong>Note:<\/strong>\u00a0Because this is using a connector, note that there IS a space between\u00a0<strong>not<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>member<\/strong>.<\/p><\/li><li><strong>firstname:Dean and city:New York and member_of:\u201dAll Stars\u201d<\/strong><br \/>All subscribers who have \u201cDean\u201d in their firstname field, and \u201cNew York\u201d in their city field, and are members of the list All Stars. Because these are connected by AND, the results will be only subscribers who fulfill all the criteria.<\/li><li><strong>member_of:\u201dRock and Roll Lovers\u201d and not member_of:\u201dEric\u2019s List\u201d<\/strong><br \/>All subscribers who are members of the list Rock and Roll Lovers, but aren\u2019t members of the list Eric\u2019s List.<p>\u00a0<\/p><p class=\"note\">\u00a0<strong>Note:<\/strong>\u00a0This combines multiple connectors, to search for more than one criteria, including a negative list search.<\/p><\/li><li><strong>member_of:\u201dRock and Roll Lovers\u201d or member_of:\u201dEric\u2019s List\u201d<\/strong><br \/>All subscribers who are a member of the list Rock and Roll Lovers, or they are a member of Eric\u2019s List.
